Established in 2019, Atticus Consulting began by providing recruitment and business support to small sporting organisations on a voluntary, ad-hoc basis.

What started as informal support — assisting with advertising, job descriptions, interview preparation, and funding proposals — quickly evolved into more comprehensive involvement, including candidate shortlisting, pre-screening and providing guidance on governance and leadership.

By July 2024, as demand for support continued to grow, a decision was made to expand our services. Atticus Consulting transitioned into a professional consultancy with a clear point of difference: delivering cost-effective, bespoke solutions tailored to the unique needs of each organisation, regardless of size or budget.

With previous oversight of the sport and recreation portfolio, and experience as a Head of Physical Education, Iain Longden has developed strong relationships with key influencers across the sector. This experience provides a deep understanding of the operational and financial challenges faced by sporting organisations throughout New Zealand.
