Lead the growth of BMX in New Zealand.

​

BMX New Zealand (BMXNZ), the national governing body for BMX racing, is seeking a dynamic and visionary Executive Officer (EO) to lead the organisation into its next chapter of growth and success.

 

This is a unique opportunity to lead a passionate, volunteer-driven sport that continues to thrive across New Zealand. With oversight of strategy, operations, events, stakeholder engagement, and governance, the EO plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of BMX — from grassroots development to elite performance pathways.

 

We are seeking a confident, proactive leader who will be responsible for:

 

  • Leading the delivery of the BMXNZ Strategic Plan, focused on membership growth, participation pathways, sustainable funding, and governance.

  • Overseeing day-to-day operations, financial management, and resource planning.

  • Acting as the primary representative of BMXNZ, engaging with clubs, Cycling New Zealand, the UCI, government agencies, sponsors, and community partners.

  • Planning and delivering major national events, including the National, North Island, and South Island Championships.

  • Driving strategic communications, sponsorship, and community engagement.

  • Working alongside the Board Secretary, support the Board of Directors through the delivery of high-quality governance advice, reports, and documentation.

  • Identifying and securing new funding and sponsorship opportunities to support long-term sustainability.

 

We are seeking a confident, proactive leader who brings:

 

  • Proven experience in strategic and operational leadership, preferably in a sport, not-for-profit, or volunteer-led environment.

  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills across a wide range of stakeholders.

  • Experience in event planning, financial management, and sponsorship development.

  • A deep understanding of governance principles and confidence supporting a Board.

  • Passion for sport and community impact — experience with BMX or cycling is a bonus, but not essential.
